Rooster Teeth today announced it will publish Bendy and the Ink Machine , its bizarre, cartoon-inspired puzzle horror will soon be available on all three major console systems — PS4, Xbox One, and Nintendo Switch. The episodic style game is coming in October and will feature the four original chapters, as well as the final never before available fifth chapter called The Last Reel. Rooster Teeth is partnering exclusively with GameStop to bring the game to retail for the first time. Fans can pre-order the game now at GameStop, both in stores and online, for $19.99 (PS4 and Xbox One) or $29.99 (Nintendo Switch).
“GameStop has always been committed to bringing exciting and creative content to more gamers across the globe,” said Eric Bright, Vice President of Merchandising at GameStop. “We are thrilled to partner with Rooster Teeth and TheMeatly to be the exclusive home of the limited-edition production disc of Bendy and the Ink Machine.”
From Rooster Teeth:
Developed by TheMeatly Games, Bendy and the Ink Machine is an episodic first-person puzzle action horror game that begins in the far days past of animation and ends in a very dark future. Play as Henry as he revisits the demons of his past by exploring the abandoned animator's workshop of Joey Drew Studios. With twists and turns around every corner, Bendy and the Ink Machine is sure to thrill... and decimate any childhood memories.
“Bendy and the Ink Machine immediately hooks the player with its original, twisted storyline and haunting graphics,” said David Eddings, Head of Publishing at Rooster Teeth Games. “TheMeatly Games has developed an incredibly unique and atmospheric experience and our partners at GameStop are offering gamers the opportunity to secure their chance to experience it on console for the very first time.”
Previously only available for PC via Steam, Bendy and the Ink Machine has somewhat of a cult following. The first chapter released in the Spring of 2017 and has gradually earned more fans with the release of each new chapter. You've probably even seen BITM merch popping up here and there, but you may have had no idea who that weird little black and white cartoon character with the toothy smile is. As it hits consoles, Bendy and the Ink Machine is likely to gain a whole new group of fans who haven't played the game previously.
It's known for being weird, fun, and quirky, without the gore and jump scares that are common in horror games. But, there's something nostalgic about creepy cartoons and such a huge portion of the gaming community loves to mix childhood memories with adult games and themes, so BITM definitely has a built-in audience. It has a surprisingly compelling storyline, interesting characters, and moderately challenging puzzles — all in a package that doesn't require hundreds of hours to complete. And soon, it will be more accessible than ever.
