Call of Duty DLC #2: "The War Machine" Releases For PS4 Players

On April 10, the second DLC pack released for Call of Duty: WWII — on PS4. The new DLC, titled "The War Machine", released a full month earlier for PS4 players, due to an exclusivity deal between Sony and Activision. XBox One players will have to wait until May to get a hold of the game's newest content.

PS4 players are already enjoying three new multiplayer maps, a new War Mode map, and a new zombies chapter. Like the full game and the previous DLC, "The Resistance", this DLC packs a lot of punch. There's no fluff or cosmetic options, just the new chapters, maps, and missions that players have been hoping for.

The new, unique multiplayer maps are likely to keep players busy for a while. Sledgehammer Games has added Dunkirk, Egypt, and a map titled V2.

    From Sledgehammer Games:

    Dunkirk

"Players face off on the sands and beachfront boardwalk of the French sea-side city of Dunkirk. This map features a large, open and dangerous beach area flanked by tight interiors through the buildings lining the beach-front. Sniping can be effective here, though aggressive running and gunning can also pay off, so keep sharp and watch your angles and surroundings to win the day."

    Egypt

"For the first time in Call of Duty: WWII, we’re bringing players to the battlefields of Northern Africa and the Egyptian pyramids. Players fight in and around the ancient ruins at Giza with landmarks that you’re sure to recognize. The map features an interior temple in the center that heats up during intense Domination matches with more open exterior lanes to either side. There’s something for everyone, as all ranges and playstyles have a place to call home here."

    V2

"Welcome to V2 – a rocket development and test site located in rural Germany. V2 is a tight, ultra-fast paced map that never lets up for a moment. The launch tower sits at the map center, providing a focal point and an opportunity to grab an elevated sightline on unsuspecting opponents. Short-to mid-range engagements are dominant here, with fast and furious gameplay throughout – don’t blink!"

For fans of the War Mode, there's an all new objective experience titled "Operation Husky". In this newest mission, the allies join the invasion of Sicily, Italy, gathering intel and locating enemy ports to transmit their hard-won information. Operation Husky also includes a fighter pilot section in which players must protect the bomber squadrons on their mission to reach their targets.

Finally, a Call of Duty: WWII DLC wouldn't be complete without an addition to the zombies mode. While the audience for Call of Duty zombies remains smaller than the number of traditional players, it's popular enough that Sledgehammer continues to update and expand on the game mode. What started off as a novelty has become the primary gameplay mode for some players. The War Machine offers a new chapter in the version of Call of Duty that delights fans of the horror genre. In "The Shadowed Throne", Berlin is burning and the familiar zombies mode characters, Marie, Drostan, Olivia, and Jefferson, must continue to eliminate Doktor Straub's terrifying undead monsters.
